Job Overview
Position: CNC Machine Operator – Paragon Medical Orthopedics, full‑time.
Union role: must join the union after the 90‑day probationary period.
Responsibilities- Set up simple jobs and operate conventional, special‑purpose and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers.
- Read blueprints, sketches, drawings and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances and sequence of operations.
- Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments and materials on mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and tooling pre‑setter.
- Mark, scribe and measure dimensions on material or workpiece as guides for machining.
- Verify finished workpiece to specifications using precision measuring instruments; verify dimensions and alignment of assemblies.
- Check machine readiness and perform operator preventative maintenance operations as required.
- Maintain a clean, well‑organized work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
- Assure all policies, procedures and safety precautions are followed to reduce risk of injury.
- Assume occasional miscellaneous duties (packing, shipping, unpacking, sorting, inspection, cleaning, finishing, deburring, etc.).
- High School graduate or equivalent; previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Works under direct supervision with ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
- Problem‑solving skills; ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
- Team player; ability to be a team player.
- Ability to pull/push up to 25 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs; 25‑lb pull/push is a physical requirement.
Physical demands: stand, walk, sit, handle objects, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; pull/push up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception required.
Work environment: production environment, moderate to high noise levels, exposure to weather conditions prevalent at the time (for Maintenance & Receiving only). Noise level usually moderate to high, in some areas.
