Safety Specialist

Job Description

The Safety Specialist supports the company's safety and environmental objectives by promoting a safe and compliant work environment throughout manufacturing operations. this position will be hands-on, and serves as a safety subject matter resource and provides guidance, training, and support related to workplace safety, occupational injury reporting, incident investigations, regulatory compliance, and hazard prevention.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily/weekly safety inspections across manufacturing floor.
• Assist with incident investigations, root‐cause analysis, and corrective action follow‐up.
• Conduct OSHA compliance, including recordkeeping, reporting, and documentation.
• Deliver safety training (PPE, lockout/tagout, forklift, hazard communication, machine guarding, etc.).
• Assist with emergency response planning, evacuation drills, and first‐aid readiness.
• Track and report safety metrics, near misses, and audit findings.
• Conduct work related injury investigations.
• Conduct workers’ compensation reporting and return‐to‐work coordination.
• Participate in safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives.
• Identify hazards, recommend improvements, and help drive a proactive safety culture.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Collaborate with supervisors to reinforce safe work practices and address unsafe behaviors.

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, machining, or industrial environments.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards.
• Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, or training.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and support corrective actions.
• Proactive, organized, and comfortable in a fast‐paced production environment.
