The Family Support Specialist works cooperatively with other agencies, caseworkers, and family aid specialists and family support services. Under the assigned supervisor, provides direct in‑home supportive services to children and families whether in or out of the child welfare system; provides emotional support to families in crises, including communicating with the family, establishing trust, and providing motivation and hope that the situation can improve.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s / Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred
- Auto Insurance

- Physical Exam / TB
- Reliable transportation large enough to transport sibling groups
- 75% of driving weekly
- Work cooperatively with other agencies, caseworkers, and family aid specialists and family support services
- Serve and submit accurate written documentation on the services provided and on the functioning of individuals and families as required by specific job or department
- Teach and demonstrate improved methods of housekeeping, home management, budgeting, nutritious meal planning, health, hygiene, and parenting
- Assess home safety and document all corrections
- Teach and provide resources to help families utilize community resources (e.g., medical counseling, applying for housing, energy assistance, WIC, food stamps, social security birth certificates, parent‑teacher meetings, etc.) as needed
- Supervise parent/child visitations, modeling appropriate parenting techniques during the visit
- Provide approved transportation when requested in service plan
- Transport clients (youth) and their families to mandated court hearings, school appointments, doctor appointments, or other case‑related appointments
- Help clients reach goals on service and/or treatment plans
- Serve as a liaison with collaterals such as DCFS/CD, schools, etc.
- Tuition assistance up to $2,500 per year
