The purpose of the position is to serve as the central point of contact for staff members and customers with planning, zoning, and building permit applications. This is accomplished by using seamless coordination of services, and project execution across departments. Performing administrative and procedural duties related to the department; providing technical assistance; receiving and filing planning and land use permit applications;

reviewing zoning permit applications; and providing planning information to the public.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary liaison between departments, vendors, and stakeholders within the One-Stop Shop framework for the City;
  • Provides technical assistance and information to staff and public by administering planning programs areas and/or ordinances;
  • Receives, accepts, files, and processes zoning, planning and land use permit applications; and reviews permits to ensure compliance with City requirements and completeness;
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and deadlines, providing regular status updates to management;
  • Maintains records by using automated and computerized tracking systems; hard copy files; and other records;
  • Prepares and presents various information for internal and external audiences by researching planning issues; creating maps, charts, and tables; managing the City and department website; managing social media outlets; utilizing GIS applications; and attending public meetings and events;
  • Assists with meetings by preparing agenda packets and distributing agenda items; setting up rooms; and other related tasks; and
  • Performs other assigned duties.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent;
  • Two (2) years of related work experience in project coordination, customer service or administrative support;
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
  • Valid Driver's License.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of City policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of zoning administration; building codes; and other relevant regulations or ordinances;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Skill in ArcGIS, database management, website development, and social media management;
Additional Skills
  • Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with City administration, other employees, and the general public.
