The purpose of the position is to coordinate first-line support to a work group or unit completing operational, construction, or maintenance activities. This is accomplished by planning and organizing jobs; overseeing maintenance and repairs; coordinating projects between departments; and maintaining records of work performed. Other duties include training and enforcing safety regulations.
- Works as lead for a unit or group by assigning work unit tasks; scheduling equipment and services; overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment; inspecting tasks completed by workers and contractors; assisting with bids and contracts; interviewing and evaluating staff performance; ensuring all safety practices are followed; and resolving unexpected problems;
- Develops and updates maintenance procedures by evaluating processes; coordinating events; developing and ensuring quality controls; scheduling and attending training; and performing safety inspections;
- Schedules and assigns activities by reviewing and scheduling priorities; reviewing, recording, and filing work orders; and referring jobs for contract work;
- Maintains records by entering work information; recording maintenance activities; and tracking job costs; and
- Performs other assigned duties.
- Associate’s degree;
High School diploma or equivalent - Four (4) years of related work experience on a crew in construction or maintenance of streets, roadways, water systems, parks, or landscapes;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience;
- Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment;
- Commercial Applicator's License ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment; and
- Valid Driver’s License.

- Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used in the construction and maintenance of parks, roadways, and landscapes
- Knowledge of standard safety processes, work gear and procedures
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials
