Position: Secondary ELAR Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)

District: Faith Family Academy Charters

Reports to: Campus Administrator

Position Purpose: Under the general supervision of the School Principal, this role is to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through the implementation of district approved curriculum.

Major Responsibilities
  • Implement and deliver curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning; modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Pursue ongoing professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensure student conduct conforms to the Student Code of Conduct and/or Student Handbook; establish and maintain standards of student behavior and responsible citizenship to support a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Cooperate with other staff, especially within the grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Assist in selecting appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment.
  • Supervise students in activities outside the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with district benchmark testing and state testing requirements.
Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

Uses classroom equipment such as SMART Board, ELMO, personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy; differentiates instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of elementary/middle school curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer networks and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-reflection regarding performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Qualifications
  • Texas State Certification as a 4-8 Core Subjects or English Teacher.
  • Probationary certificate with enrollment in an approved Alternative Certification Program.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Training/coursework from an accredited alternative certification program requiring a bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s Degree, preferred but not required.
Experience

Successful prior teaching experience or student teaching for the appropriate grade levels is a plus.

Evaluation

This position will be evaluated in accordance with the Faith Family Academy District Board Policy.
