2027 Internship Overhaul Engineer

Overhaul Internship positions are designed to provide students with challenging projects that play a key role in supporting gas turbine product and development activities. Under the guidance of a mentor, interns are given a meaningful work experience, a project assignment to complete, and the opportunity to apply classroom education to real work situations. Typical intern projects provide the opportunity to analyze and develop turbo machinery assembly documentation and work instructions and detailed part repairs in support of a variety of gas turbine product lines.

  • Mechanical Engineer – Opportunity to analyze and develop turbo machinery assembly documentation, work instructions, and detailed part repairs in support of a variety of gas turbine product lines.
  • Quality Engineer – Opportunity to analyze and develop process documentation, work instructions, and corrective or preventative actions to manufacturing issues in support of a variety of gas turbine product lines.
  • Tooling Engineering – Opportunity to design and improve tooling solutions that enhance safety, manufacturing quality, and production efficiency. In this hands‑on role, you will support shop floor operations by developing, modifying, and troubleshooting tooling and fixtures while collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and safety teams to solve real‑world production challenges.
  • Test Engineer – Opportunity to analyze and develop turbo machinery assembly documentation, work instructions, and detailed part repairs in support of a variety of gas turbine product lines.
Additional Responsibilities (across all roles)
  • Test performance and data analysis
  • Materials research and analysis
  • Engine assembly support
  • Research and analysis of design changes for product improvements
  • Manufacturing support and design tools for conformance with specifications in the areas of reliability, performance, cost, serviceability, and manufacturability
  • Collection and analysis of process data, failure investigation, and metrics creation for tracking progress
  • Developing inspection standards, maintenance procedures, and shipping equipment requirements to ensure continuous product flow
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently in the process of obtaining a 4-year or advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Classified by your school as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, planning to attend graduate school, or currently attending graduate school.
  • Overall GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous co‑op or internship experience.
  • Problem‑solving skills.
  • High energy level and sense of urgency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good business and technical judgment.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities for a variety of tasks.
Summary Pay Range

$26.00 – $43.00

Intern Hourly Rate

An intern's hourly rate is based on the major/degree being pursued and the number of completed academic hours achieved before the start of the internship.

This position requires working on site five days a week.
