Clinical Educator; RN

The Clinical Educator identifies and provides ongoing training, coaching, and education for all employees. The role is responsible for ensuring a robust education program throughout employment that enables employees to master and demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties, including orientation to hospital policies, department-specific training, and ongoing regulatory compliance training.

• Maintain current knowledge of state and Joint Commission regulatory requirements.
• Review and evaluate training and apprenticeship programs for compliance with CMS, JCAHO, and other regulatory standards.
• Work closely with Human Resources to deliver and track new hire and ongoing training programs, ensuring all employees can demonstrate required skills, knowledge, and competencies.
• Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary team to develop adequate training content and programs for various departments and positions.
• Identify and assess training needs through job analysis, career path planning, mandatory training rosters, and consultation with the Interdisciplinary team.
• Create overall or individualized training and development plans that address needs and expectations.
• Deploy a wide variety of training methods.
• Monitor and evaluate the training program’s effectiveness, success, and ROI periodically and report on them.
• Provide opportunities for ongoing development.
• Resolve specific problems and tailor programs as necessary.
• Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments, and best practices.
• Participate in hospital committees and report relevant information to hospital staff.
• Maintain training records and documentation.
• Develop testing and evaluation procedures.
• Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members.
• Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
• Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
• Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs using knowledge of effective instructional methods such as classroom training, distance e‑learning, demonstrations, on‑the‑job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
• Analyze training needs to develop new programs or modify and improve existing programs.
• Support the organization’s strategic business development efforts.
• Uphold the organization’s ethics and customer service standards.

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
Master’s degree in a health‑related field preferred.

5 years of experience in a training or nurse‑management role in a health care setting required. Acute psychiatric care experience preferred. Healthstream experience required.

Valid Texas RN license in good standing required. BLS and Handle With Care certification required. Must be 21 years old or older. Must obtain and maintain BLS CPR certification and complete Management of Assaultive Behavior training, including restraint and seclusion policies, prior to assuming patient care responsibility.

• Teaching and adult learning theory, instructional methodologies, problem‑solving, organization, and time management. Principles for curriculum design, instruction for individuals and groups, and training effect measurement.
• PC skills including Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Business and management principles for strategic planning, customer service, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
• English language structure and content, composition rules, and grammar. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health and psychiatric nursing regulations.
• Advanced knowledge and clinical skills in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, nursing principles, procedures, and techniques for psychiatric patients, and pharmacology of psychotropic medications.
• Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology for child or adolescent psychiatric populations, and familiarity with psychopharmacy and psychotropic medication use.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals, functioning calmly in sensitive, tactful, and diplomatic situations and providing prompt, efficient service.

• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, raise, and move objects up to 50 lbs; perform repetitive wrist, hand, or finger motions. Light work most of the time, exerting up to 20 lbs occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs frequently; occasionally medium work up to 50 lbs occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs frequently.
