Customer Service Agent – VPS (Part‑Time)

Provide friendly service at Southwest’s ticket counter, gate area, and baggage office. Assist customers with check‑in, ticketing, boarding, baggage services and resolve any issues to ensure a smooth travel experience.

Pay

$20.22 per hour with opportunities for overtime and shift premiums. Future increases are based on the collective bargaining agreement wage scale.

Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly service and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Operate a computerized point‑of‑sale system for ticketing, check‑in, boarding, baggage service, and reservations.
  • Handle cash, checks, credit cards, travel vouchers, and coupons; compute charges, make change, and balance daily transactions.
  • Check in baggage and cargo, assist with telephone inquiries, and resolve problems or complaints.
  • Manage issues such as oversold, delayed, or canceled flights and lost, damaged luggage.
  • Provide accurate fare, schedule, and flight information; answer general inquiries from customers and visitors.
  • Complete required forms and reports, and write irregularity and complaint reports.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by station leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to type and use a computer keyboard at a sufficient speed.
  • Read documents, follow instructions, and learn ticketing procedures.
  • Work well with others in a team and handle stressful situations.
  • Pass the customer service training program with an 80% or greater average during the evaluation period.
  • Aware of hazardous situations and able to handle emergencies.
  • Work under tight time constraints to achieve quick aircraft turns.
  • Maintain a well‑groomed appearance in accordance with company standards.
  • Perform job functions in a limited space.
  • Communicate verbally by telephone, face‑to‑face, or public address system.
  • Possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Communicate information and instructions verbally or via radio equipment.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must comply with company attendance and shift work standards.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and regularly handle 40–50 pound items.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to wear prescribed uniforms.
  • Must obtain a SIDA badge and meet local airport requirements; customs seal may be required for international flights.
  • Foreign language skills are desirable but not required.
