Environmental Health & Safety Manager
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager will provide health, safety, and environmental support by developing and implementing programs for vertical / ground up construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the implementation, enforcement and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety policies and processes
- Develop and manage EHS programs to ensure employees are injury free and have a high degree of consciousness and ownership about safety and health issues
- Identify, evaluate, and prevent environmental health and safety hazards at the site
- Implement and maintain industrial hygiene programs and standards.
- Communicate EHS progress, status, and issues to upper management and support staff
- Conduct accident, incident, and near-miss investigations
- Provide recommendations for procedure changes to prevent future occurrences
- Comply with all OSHA and other related regulatory requirements for documentation and reporting
- Evaluate current safety programs for potential improvement
- Actively seek improved EHS practices through active participation in EHS related seminars and organizations
- Work closely with independent contractors on site to ensure proper EHS practices by their employees.
- Administer contractor safety programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in safety, engineering, construction management, or comparable field preferred; or the equivalent knowledge and experience
- Willingness to travel required
- 5+ years of leading construction site environmental and safety compliance programs
- Strong knowledge of federal and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and CDC
- Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards
- Demonstrated ability to determine training needs, organize and/or conduct training
- Excellent communication, facilitation, ownership, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks and demonstrated success in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments
- Experience with basic computer applications/construction related software
