• Develop new customer prospects and business for the financial institution.
• Complete each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner.
• Gather related financial and general business information, perform financial analyses needed to make credit decisions, participate in team credit decisions, and communicate with prospects and customers to close sales.
• Screen loan requests based on financial institution policies and types of loans offered by the institution.
• Order appraisals, credit reports, background checks, reference checks and other information as needed on loan applicants.
• Monitor overall profitability of relationships and negotiate terms, fees, and structures to the mutual benefit of the client and Smart Bank.
• Evaluate potential customer loan requests and make loan recommendations to management.
• Review new laws and regulations that influence business lending within the financial institution and make recommendations to management when necessary.
• Communicate complex approvals or denials to the borrower.
• Promote and participate in the financial institution’s special credit programs and other CRA programs.

• High School Diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or management preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in banking or sales lending field.
• RMA – Credit Risk Certification preferred.
• Graduate School of Banking preferred.
• TBA Lending Schools – Commercial Lending preferred.
