Marketing and Communications Student WorkerHow are communications with the public planned and executed? Come learn with us! MnDOT District 4 is looking for someone who likes to learn, can assist with communication on a variety of platforms, analyze our efforts of outreach, and assist during special events. As a Marketing and Communications Student Worker, you'll be writing, editing, assisting with data updates, and helping coordinate events for the public.
As the summer progresses, you'll get more advanced opportunities to help us serve the public and grow your career. You'll even have the opportunity to don a hardhat and safety vest to visit construction sites. This position will support a variety of MnDOT outreach initiatives, including Communications/Public Engagement, Towards Zero Deaths, and HR Outreach.
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Knowledge of data entry into data bases.
- Basic knowledge of office procedures, practices and equipment, computers, and various office machines.
- Basic knowledge in the use of Windows‑based operating system and programs, with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic graphic and video editing skills in Canva, Adobe Express or other design tools.
- Candidates must be currently enrolled or enrolling within three months as a full‑time student in a post‑secondary or graduate program studying Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent, with a GPA of at least 2.0.
- Valid Class D Driver’s License
- Full‑time student with a GPA of at least 3.0.
The employee is regularly required to sit; use wrists, hands, and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
