Position located at the Detroit Lakes Headquarters, with flexibility to telework up to 2 days per week. Telework arrangement must be made with supervisor; office work as determined by policy and supervisor discussion.

Our Preliminary Design Supervisor position assists in supervision and delivery in the District Design Section. It provides engineering expertise and supervision for the delivery of highway construction/transportation plans and documentation to ensure compliance with MnDOT standards and policies.

• Professional Engineer licensure with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID). (If licensing through comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided prior to starting employment.)
• Experience managing transportation projects.
• Experience applying engineering principles, practices, techniques, and methods.
• Experience coordinating and/or directing the work of staff and/or consultants.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university (or equivalent rated by NCEES/EAC).
• Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
• Two years of post‑graduation civil engineering work, OR
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university (or equivalent) AND a passing score on the FE exam plus one year of post‑graduation civil engineering work, OR
• Passing score on the Minnesota Principals & Practices of Civil Engineering (PE) exam.
