Senior Accountant – Accounting Team
As a vital member of the accounting team, the Senior Accountant will report to the CFO and assume a strategic role in managing accounting processes and the team.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cost analysis, and for presenting accurate and timely financial information and analysis.
Responsibilities- Participate in establishing financial objectives, operational plans, and policies.
- Implement financial plans, policies, procedures, and practices that support corporate plans and objectives.
- Communicate and adhere to financial operating policies and procedures at staff and departmental levels.
- Assist in maintaining the firm’s relationships with professional services providers such as banks, auditors, insurance agents, plan administrators, and vendors.
- Develop internal controls to ensure validity of financial reporting, promote policy adherence, and enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the team to refine accounting practices.
- Work with the Accounting team to promote a one‑team approach with the Design team.
- Pilot the development of benchmarking, monitoring, and analyzing firm‑wide and departmental metrics.
- Manage annual collection of tax data for CPA firm, workers’ compensation audit, and 401(k) audit documentation.
- Oversee year‑end financial statements.
- Provide financial expertise to management as needed.
- Lead efforts to maintain and enhance the accounting information system as a project‑management resource.
- Assist Project Accountant(s) in project setup and invoice entry as needed.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in architecture or engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business management.
- Understanding that accounting provides a service to internal and external clients.
- High standard of professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and manage at all levels and remote locations with a distinctive culture.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, creativity, and sound judgment for timely analyses.
- Enthusiasm to enact positive changes.
- Ability to manage challenging issues and handle conflict appropriately.
- Proficiency in Windows environment; experience with Deltek preferred.
