Grants Payroll Billing Manager

A great UHY client is seeking a Grants Payroll Billing Manager to support critical finance operations across grant accounting, payroll, and billing. This is a high-impact, hands‑on role within a rebuilding finance team, offering the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while helping strengthen financial processes in a collaborative environment.

The Grants Payroll Billing Manager role is a hybrid position based in the Detroit metro area. This is a contract‑to‑hire or direct hire opportunity.

• Manage and oversee accounting and reporting for 75+ grants
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements, reporting, and billing processes
• Handle payroll processing and related accounting functions
• Support general ledger activities and month‑end close processes
• Prepare and analyze reports using Excel to support leadership decision‑making
• Assist with upcoming ERP system transition and process improvements
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial operations

• Strong experience with grant accounting and grant management
• Payroll processing experience
• Solid understanding of general ledger and accounting cycles
• Experience with Quick Books (required)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to work independently in a hands‑on, evolving environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Nonprofit experience is a plus
