Senior Accounting Analyst
The senior accounting analyst position is responsible for providing advanced accounting support to the organization, including but not limited to preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, month-end closing activities, forecasting, budgeting and performing cost and variance analysis. This position manages complex and confidential company financial records and operates with significant discretion and autonomy.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the monthly close process, including preliminary review of financial statements, preparation and posting of journal entries, and explanation of budget to actual variances.
- Assist in preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budget for assigned department(s) through analysis of accounts and working hand-in-hand with department leaders.
- Work with internal departments and management to track and invoice external partners/vendors.
- Execute in accordance with corporate accounting policies and procedures and recommend new ideas or changes to current policies and procedures, as needed.
- Analyze and reconcile various general ledger accounts monthly.
- Continuously evaluate business processes and implement changes that increase efficiencies.
- Manage and lead special projects.
- Manage, direct, and support the accounting analyst regarding a range of issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of six years related experience. (Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work).
- Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards.
- Evidence of highly developed verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest ethical standards and integrity.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of accounting principles to ensure financial results are in conformity with Generally Acceptable Account Principles.
- Advanced Excel skills, which may include the creation of macros, pivot tables, etc.
- Experience with Oracle.
- Experience with Workforce and/or Workday.
- Experience with event accounting
