About The Role
The Henry Ford Health System Fund Accounting department is currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. This position is responsible for the post‑award administration of sponsored research projects, including government grants and contracts, private agency grants, gifts and internally‑funded projects. This includes all accounting functions to ensure projects are carried out within budget guidelines as set forth by the funding agencies.
The role performs daily accounting duties of moderate difficulty and routinely reviews and maintains accounting records, systems, and procedures. Working under the direction of the Fund Accounting Manager, but with a high level of autonomy, the analyst assists the Manager and the Research Administration team with managing fiscal requirements and deliverables of grants and contracts. He or she actively works hand‑on with oversight of specialized services in accounting: general ledger, preparation of agency financial reports, cost allocations, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, cash reconciliation, monitoring and financial reporting, governmental Fund/Restricted Accounting, and compliance.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Provide financial information to management on direct research costs as well as assist principal investigators in the fiscal management of their laboratories, including setting up new accounts and budgets, monitoring expenditures to assure they are allowable and within budget, performing financial analysis and projections of funding status, reporting to awarding agencies on expenditures and participating in audits of expenditures.
- The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of CFR Part 200, as well as excellent customer service, organizational, analytical, and time‑management skills with the ability to present complicated financial analysis to a variety of staff members with varied backgrounds and levels of financial knowledge.
- Has to be able to multitask and give attention to detail to multiple assignments.
- Has to be able to manage a large volume of assignments.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Must be able to perform V‑Lookups.
- Power BI is a plus.
