Position/Type: Other, full time
Salary: Per Contract

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree, preferred in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
  • Experience in an accounting role in a Michigan school, preferred.
  • Experience with Schools OPEN software, preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and leadership ability.
  • Ability to meet deadlines as requested by administrative personnel.
  • Ability to use independent judgment, flexibility and work with little supervision, and make decisions in accordance with District policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and knowledge of the privacy act.
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with the public, staff, peers, area school personnel and other agencies.
  • Must be willing to adapt to new procedures and computer capabilities as they occur.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains payroll operations as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all accounting areas of operation within the Business Services department.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, and Schools OPEN software to enter and receive information such as financial and/or personnel data.
  • Designs and develops computerized reports, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Develops and distributes complex financial reports.
  • Verifies financial information for accuracy.
  • Assists constituent district personnel with the preparation of payroll data, financial data and statistical reports, as requested by the supervisor.
  • Works as a team member to analyze and solve complex accounting transactions.
  • Assists constituent school district staff in the analysis of accounting, payroll, and finance procedures through the user group relationships.
  • Works with constituent district personnel to provide assistance for the accurate completion of payroll and other related reports.
  • Serves in an active role in Schools OPEN user groups.
  • Provides business/management technical assistance to the local districts.
