Shift: Day (8:30am-5pm Monday-Wednesday-Friday; Thursday 11:30am-8pm)
Compensation range: $16-$19 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Trinity Health's Detroit Health Ministry (DHM) serves uninsured and underinsured adults in Michigan by providing primary care, limited diagnostic testing and imaging, transportation, and pharmaceuticals. DHM coordinates specialty care through specialist relationships and organizational partnerships.
General Summary- Perform routine registration duties, including data entry and completion of standard registration forms.
- Maintain filing systems, route information, answer telephone calls, and open mail.
- Greet and direct visitors.
- Utilize EPIC electronic medical records to coordinate patient visits.
- Complete, prepare and assemble standard forms, charts and records.
- Contact other departments to obtain necessary information, flag missing data, and locate, order and retrieve requested records.
- Respond to requests for release of information, copy and route records, and maintain logs of work activities.
- Answer telephone calls, route calls, take and relay messages, and manage incoming and outgoing mail.
- Schedule appointments for patients or other visitors, following established guidelines.
- Order and maintain office and/or medical supplies; keep work areas clean and organized.
- Assist with maintaining departmental computer database files, data entry for quality assurance, and generation of standard reports.
- Perform general clerical duties such as copying, collating, running errands, and assembling packets.
- Assist in scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships, contribute to problem resolution, and uphold confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
- Adhere to safety procedures, report hazards, and act in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph Mercy Health System.
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus a combination of education and experience.
- Six months or more of clerical office experience; formal clerical and computer training desirable.
- Accurate typing and data entry skills with strong spelling, grammar and attention to detail.
- Ability to sort alphabetically and numerically.
- Telephone skills and ability to operate office equipment such as PCs, copiers, fax machines and printers.
- Effective interpersonal skills for communicating with staff, physicians, patients, visitors and other personnel.
- Organizational skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and adapt quickly to changes.
