Purpose/Description
Administrative Specialist 2 performs highly difficult, complex and responsible office work, including handling monetary transactions in various departments. In the County Clerk's Office, typical duties and responsibilities may include: accepting receipts, fees and payments from customers; issuing receipts and entering transactions and supporting data into the cash register; distributing and reviewing assignments of subordinates; maintaining statistics relative to work received and completed;
entering court orders, judgments and proceedings into the Court Case Management System and other duties as assigned. In the Office of the Sheriff, the Administrative Specialist 2 performs cashier duties such as handling money, assisting customers, reconciling registers and preparing deposits; reviewing documents from customers for accuracy and completeness; notarizing Sheriff's Deeds and proofs of service; assisting with preparing the auction, as well as other general clerical duties as assigned.
Tasks
- Accepting receipts, fees and payments from customers.
- Issuing receipts and entering transactions and supporting data into the cash register.
- Distributing and reviewing assignments of subordinates.
- Maintaining statistics relative to work received and completed.
- File stamping documents, true copying documents, and preparing them for certification.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Educational/Experience Requirements: A high school diploma or its equivalent; AND at least two years of higher level clerical or other office administrative experience, which must include handling monetary transactions.
- Additional experience may be considered for higher level positions.
- Assessment: A Written Assessment (100%) covering knowledge of basic math skills, general office practices, general clerical practices and procedures and related knowledge. Candidates must pass all tests to be placed on the eligibility list. If the number of eligible applicants equals or is less than the number required, the Department may substitute other evaluation methods.
Salary: $44,476 - $66,716 per year
