Essential functions (job duties):Under limited direction, coordinate office services, programs and projects and multitask a variety of situations, responding in atimely manner to changes in priorities. The Department of Oncologywithin the School of Medicine functions as both a basic science and clinical department which requires the incumbent to exercise independent judgment to maximize office efficiencies in support ofthe Department’s clinical and research efforts and goals. The candidate will serve as the project coordinator in support of the department of Oncology administration as it relates to recruitment and academic programs, participate in assigned programs and projects designed to achieve department goals and objectives andserve as liaison to internal and external contacts, representing the Associate Director, Oncology Affairs and Department Administration as directed on all special programs exercisingutmost confidentiality.
Coordinate and handle assignments involving a high level of organization, confidentiality, record keeping, attention to detailand accuracy. Monitor schedules and due dates to establishmeetings, ensure completion of tasks, and other documentation needed to reach desired goals. Provide support in areas of academic affairs administration for all research staff of the Department of Oncology at Wayne State University. Ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within time frames to meet Department of Oncology and Divisional goals.
Anticipate the needs of the office and act accordingly. Assist insetting daily priorities, researching information, scheduling meetings, establishing timelines for special projects. Serve as information point of service for faculty, students, staff and community in the School of Medicine, DMC, Karmanos Cancer Institute and McLaren Health System on issues pertaining to the department.
Provide support and lead the initiation and implementation of Research Staff recruitment efforts within Academic Affairs in the Department of Oncology at Wayne State University, including all actions related to appointments and terminations. Ensures project execution, compliance with institutional standards, and effective communication among faculty, staff and external partners.
Interpret procedures and processes to facilitate department goalsand make revisions as necessary. Provide sound statistical information to the Department Administrator and/or KCIAdministration for him/her to make sound decisions pertaining to academic research, teaching and clinical issues for the department.
Assist Department Administration with annual budgets, professional development plans, and special requests. Maintain original file ofall departmental agreements, memorandums of understanding, and official documentation.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education :
Bachelor's degree
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Requires advanced knowledge predominantly intellectual in character in a field of science or learning acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction.
