Position Summary

When you work at Delta College in the Business and Technology Division (BTec), you are preparing yourself for future professional success! Develop skills employers seek including written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as a member of a team, adaptability, and the confidence to take initiative on the job.

The BTec Division seeks students with the ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a team, work independently and accept individual responsibility for projects or assignments, and effectively represent the BTec Division to staff, faculty, fellow students, campus departments/disciplines, visiting community members and/or current/prospective students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING : CUSTOMER SERVICE
  • Provide a warm welcome and exceptional customer service as a front desk greeter (via phone, email or in-person) to staff, faculty, fellow students and community members inquiring about our programs.
  • Convey knowledge of Delta’s website and electronic resources that the BTec Division references.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
  • Support staff efforts to coordinate information sessions, publicity tables, and career programs/events.
  • Assist staff and faculty with various duties in multiple software programs.
  • Receive and sort incoming/outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Assist with data entry, printing projects, office supply inventory, filing, copying, typing and research.
  • Assist with mailings and creating promotional flyers and bulletin board displays.
  • Light cleaning of shared spaces.
  • Attend mandatory, regularly scheduled meetings, trainings, and one-on-one meetings with supervisor.
  • Monitor and respond to incoming messages from division staff and faculty.
  • Serve as a positive role and outreach to students and student groups on behalf of the BTec Division.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of the overall BTec Division on projects.
  • Provide other office support as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service skills: ability to represent the BTec Division courteously and effectively to all guests.
  • Must be punctual, self-motivated, professional and have a friendly personality.
  • Applicants should possess a willingness to acquire a general understanding of the College policies and practices to better serve staff, faculty, fellow students, campus departments/disciplines, visiting community members and/or prospective students.
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and projects.
  • Microsoft Office software user, including Office 365, and ability to quickly learn new platforms
  • Commitment to uphold the office’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Must be enrolled at Delta College and registered and maintain a minimum of six (6) credit hours during employment.
  • Work study preferred, but not required.
