Business Development Manager

We are a growing civil contracting company based in Detroit, MI, seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to help expand our presence across Southeast Michigan and beyond. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities, and turning strategy into results.

• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in civil construction (public and private sectors)
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, engineers, general contractors, developers, and owners
• Track bid opportunities, attend pre-bid meetings, and support proposal development
• Collaborate with estimating, operations, and leadership to align growth strategy
• Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings
• Maintain CRM records and provide regular pipeline and forecast updates

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of business development, sales, or estimating experience in civil construction (preferred)
• Strong understanding of civil contracting markets, bid processes, and project life cycles
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; CRM experience a plus
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
