We are partnered with a nationally respected general contractor headquartered in Detroit, MI seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on a variety of commercial and industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to quality, safety, and on-schedule delivery.
Role and Responsibilities- Lead daily on-site supervision and execution of construction activities across commercial and industrial projects
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to maintain schedule, quality, and safety standards
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents for field implementation
- Develop and maintain short-term schedules and look-aheads to support milestone tracking
- Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards
- Enforce job site safety protocols and promote a culture of safety and compliance
- Prepare accurate daily reports, meeting minutes, and field documentation
- Manage site logistics including deliveries, inspections, and coordination with trade partners
- Identify and resolve field conflicts and construction issues in a timely manner
- Support punch list completion, final inspections, and project turnover
- Communicate job status, challenges, and needs to Project Managers and leadership
Projects typically include one or more of the following:
- Retail build-outs and remodels
- Office and entertainment spaces
- Educational facilities
- Industrial and warehouse builds
- Multifamily construction
- Hospitality and healthcare facilities
- Restaurant and food service projects
- 5+ years of Superintendent experience on commercial and/or industrial construction projects
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and disciplines in the field
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, and scheduling
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with construction management tools and reporting systems preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work in a dynamic project environment and collaborate with project teams
