Senior Estimator – Michigan

The Christman Company is looking for a Senior Estimator in Michigan, located out of any of our regional offices in Grand Rapids, Lansing or Detroit.

• Supervise, check work, and mentor Estimators and Estimating Engineers.
• Develop and oversee conceptual estimates for assigned projects, support the planning and engineering groups in the development of all levels of estimates, and collect and analyze close‑out and benchmark data.
• Lead major estimating efforts.
• Develop and clarify estimate reports.
• Cultivate strong subcontractor knowledge and relations.
• Present estimating results to clients and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all civil structure architectural trades.
• Be competent at conceptual and detailed levels of estimating.
• Provide value‑engineering leadership and tracking.
• Drive deadlines and achieve results.
• Master the scope review process.
• Master estimating software programs including on‑screen take‑off.
• Consult with architects and engineers on project parameters.
• Ensure database‑pricing updates are completed.

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, engineering, business, finance, or a related field.
• Eight (8) years of estimating experience in construction or a related field.
• Or an equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.

• Ten (10) years of commercial construction experience.
• Capability to complete large Construction Management (CM) and General Contractor (GC) Construction Management at Risk and Design Build projects and large complex competitive bid projects.

• Independent sales strengths for presentations and project pursuits.
• History of successfully working relationships with the internal operations team and externally with owners, architects/engineers, and subcontractors.
• Attention to detail: observant, accomplishes tasks accurately the first time, and does not let things fall through the cracks.
• Dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships, and gaining their trust and respect.
• Ability to make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment.
• Provides advice and solutions to others.
• Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
