Job Description
The Field Engineer plays a critical role in bridging the gap between project planning and field execution. This position supports project delivery by assisting with layout, quality control, coordination with field crews, and real-time problem solving.
The Field Engineer works closely with the Operations team, Project Managers, Superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to specification. This is a hands-on, field-focused role ideal for someone who wants to build a strong foundation in heavy civil and asphalt construction.
Key Responsibilities Field Operations & Project Support- Assist with project layout, grading checks, elevations, and alignment
- Track daily quantities, production rates, and materials
- Support field crews with drawings, specifications, and clarifications
- Verify work is performed in accordance with plans, specs, and safety standards
- Assist with quality control inspections and documentation
- Serve as a liaison between field crews and the office team
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors as needed
- Communicate issues, conflicts, and potential delays proactively
- Assist with as-built drawings and closeout documentation
- Support change order tracking and field verification
- Help identify value-engineering opportunities in the field
- Strong understanding and proficiency of construction plans, grades, and specifications
- Willingness to work in the field in varying weather conditions
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license
- US Citizen or work VISA
- 3–5 years of experience in heavy civil, asphalt, or site-work construction
- Familiarity with grading, paving, utilities, or concrete work
- Experience using construction software (Bluebeam, Procore, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to read survey data and perform basic layout
- Experience with Trimble
- Detail-oriented and proactive problem solver
- Comfortable working alongside field crews and leadership
- Strong work ethic and desire to grow within a construction organization
