Asphalt Raker

Job Description

Via Paving is seeking an experienced Asphalt Raker to join our paving crew. This role plays a key part in achieving high quality finishes, clean joints, and proper transitions on commercial and municipal paving projects.

The ideal candidate takes pride in workmanship, understands paving production, and works well within a team focused environment.

• Hand rake and lute asphalt to achieve smooth, consistent surfaces
• Assist with paving joints, edges, transitions, and tie ins
• Work closely with the screed and roller operators to maintain mat quality
• Maintain proper material flow ahead of the paver
• Identify and communicate quality or production issues to the foreman
• Assist with paving setup, clean up, and daily site preparation
• Follow all company safety policies and job site procedures

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience as an asphalt raker
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving practices and finishing techniques
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced outdoor construction environment
• Physically able to perform manual labor throughout the workday
• Able to lift 75 pounds
• Reliable, punctual, and team oriented
• US Citizen or work VISA

• Experience on commercial, industrial, or municipal paving projects
• Experience working alongside highway class or commercial paving crews
• Ability to assist with training less experienced crew members
