Job Description

Responsible for preparing competitive bids and proposals for structural steel and miscellaneous metal projects. Ensures estimates support targeted margins while accurately reflecting scope, materials, labor, and project requirements.

• Perform duties with limited supervision following established procedures and deadlines.
• Prepare detailed estimates and manage change orders on existing contracts.
• Review bid documents, project specifications, and drawings to perform accurate material and labor takeoffs.
• Estimate labor, materials, subcontracted work, and freight for complete project proposals.
• Communicate directly with customers to define project scope, timelines, and requirements.
• Develop comprehensive scope definitions for each bid package.
• Participate in peer-to-peer estimate reviews.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with construction-related coursework.
• 3-5 years of experience in estimating structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
• College degree in estimating, construction management, engineering, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Equivalent hands‑on industry experience may substitute for formal education.
• Proficiency with estimating software and related systems (e.g., Tekla‑based tools, estimating platforms, ERP systems).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows operating systems.

• Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms as needed.
• Ability to perform work in an office‑based environment.
