Commercial Project Construction Manager
We have an exciting opening for a Commercial Project Construction Manager position in Detroit, Michigan. Our client is considering candidates at both the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager levels, depending on their experience. This role presents a chance for advancement with a well-established construction company specializing in commercial and industrial projects, such as educational facilities, churches, and other non-residential buildings. Experience in residential construction alone will not suffice.
The Construction Manager will oversee projects from inception to completion, collaborating closely with clients, field leaders, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure the timely and within-budget delivery of high-quality work.
Key Duties:
- Supervising commercial and industrial construction projects from start to finish
- Acting as a primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, field teams, and internal management
- Developing and managing project schedules, budgets, change orders, billing documents, and project records
- Reviewing drawings, work scopes, contracts, specifications, and project requirements
- Chairing project meetings, monitoring progress, addressing issues, and keeping stakeholders updated
- Evaluating subcontractor performance, job costs, safety measures, quality standards, and compliance
- Providing support, guidance, and coordination to project teams to ensure accountability and successful outcomes
Requirements:
- Prior hands-on experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects
- Background working with a commercial design-build contractor is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Adobe, and Timberline/Sage is a plus
- Thorough understanding of construction techniques, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation
- Ability to interpret and understand plans, specifications, scopes, and contracts
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Preferably a degree in construction management, engineering, civil engineering, or related field
