Construction Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects throughout the Metro Detroit area. The Superintendent will manage all onsite construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. This role involves serving as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, enforcing site safety requirements, and driving successful project execution from mobilization through closeout.
The company handles a variety of work, including commercial, K-12, civic, recreation, and federal projects.
- Manage day-to-day construction operations on assigned projects.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel.
- Develop, maintain, and drive project schedules.
- Enforce site safety standards and conduct regular safety meetings.
- Monitor quality and ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications.
- Conduct site inspections and identify potential issues before they impact schedule or budget.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, architects, engineers, owners, and inspectors.
- Maintain daily reports, progress documentation, and project records.
- Ensure project milestones are achieved and client expectations are met.
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent managing construction projects from start to finish.
- Experience in vertical construction projects.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, project schedules, and site safety.
- Experience overseeing renovations, additions, interior build-outs, or ground-up construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, quality control, and field coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Skills & Qualifications
- Federal or government project experience.
- K-12 education project experience.
- Municipal project experience.
This field-based role supports projects throughout Metro Detroit. The Superintendent typically manages one project at a time, with projects including K-12 schools, municipal buildings, parks, and public infrastructure improvements. Current projects involve Detroit Public Schools work and infrastructure upgrades at Sheldon Park and Heilmann Park. The position includes a $350/month vehicle allowance within the total compensation package. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
