Work Schedule Negotiable hours/week based on tour needs. Must give at least one tour per week at 1.5 hours and attend mandatory training dates each semester. Tour guides will receive priority registration for all future semesters to allow for tour availability.

You will be assigned to two mandatory training dates during the first two weeks of classes (based on availability).

Other mandatory trainings will take place on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 5:00 pm
-7:00 pm for the fall semester; and Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 5:00 pm
-7:00 pm for the spring semester.

Tours guides are an integral part of the campus visit experience. Tour guides are responsible for positively representing Northern Kentucky University to our visitors, mainly prospective students and their guests. Tour guides are expected to be knowledgeable about the University, share their student experience, and represent NKU with pride and enthusiasm.

Give walking tours of campus to visitors, including but not limited to, prospective students and their parents, community organizations, high school counselors and alumni.

Tour guides are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the tour route and all information included in training materials and training sessions.

Tour guides must give at least one scheduled tour per week. Tours last 1.5 hours and must cover mandatory areas as indicated in the tour guide manual.

If a tour guide is unable to give their weekly tour, they must find a replacement tour guide and notify their supervisor of the change.

Answer in-depth questions regarding the NKU experience, your personal experience, and general university facts (majors, housing, student life, etc.).

Possess a positive attitude about the NKU experience and college in general.

Be personable, professional, and engaging with prospective students and their parents – be willing to share personal NKU experiences to better relate to prospective students.

Guides may also complete administrative tasks such as data entry, stuff visit bags and other duties as assigned if a visit is cancelled or a guide is not needed based on the number of visitors for the tour.

Flexible schedule, ability to walk/stand for up to two hours, positive attitude, ability to communicate well. Tour guides are expected to be punctual, dependable, and conscientious in the execution of all duties.

All interested students must fill-out an online student employment application. Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
