Dental Assistant

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Operations, the Dental Assistant is responsible for providing first in class service to patients, residents, faculty, and all other Columbia personnel.

• Assist dental providers in provision of dental care to patients by using four-handed dentistry. Aiding in preparation and maintenance of materials, instruments and equipment.
• Maintain dental supply and material levels within the department, ensuring inventory levels are at par, disposing of expired supplies, and ordering/dispensing supplies as needed.
• Maintain dental/surgical equipment by reporting major malfunctions to the technical team. Provide cross coverage for dental assistant module areas and radiology.
• Maintain student and patient records. Pour/mix models.
• Perform administrative functions, as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience. Plus, one year of related experience preferred.
• Dental Assistant requires formal training in four handed dentistry, sit-down dental assisting and six months of related experience.

• Experience with dental x-rays. Graduation from a NY State approved dental assistant program.
• Bi-lingual (Spanish/English), including translation.
• BLS certification.
