Position: Physician - Pathology, Hematopathology (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Position Overview

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an academic Hematopathologist to join the Department of Pathology. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the bone marrow/lymph node, fluid/coagulation and flow cytometry diagnostic services, take part in resident and medical student education, conduct productive basic, clinical and/or translational research, and collaborate with a world class Hematology/Oncology division.

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center have an expanding NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center including an active bone marrow transplantation program as well as many outreach and affiliated hospitals resulting in a high volume of cases with a wide variety of specimens.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in diagnostic services for bone marrow/lymph node, fluid/coagulation and flow cytometry
  • Engage in education for residents and medical students
  • Conduct productive basic, clinical and/or translational research
  • Collaborate with a Hematology/Oncology division and support a high-volume, diverse case mix
Requirements
  • MD or DO or equivalent
  • Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Pathology
  • Subspecialty in Hematopathology
  • Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio
Faculty Defined
  • Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Titles include assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. Includes MD, DO, PhD or other terminal degree. Not eligible for tenure; appointed for terms of three to five years; may be reappointed. Principal focus is clinical care with possible teaching and/or research.
  • Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Titles include assistant/associate/professor eligible for or having tenure. Primary career focus on research, service and teaching. May be involved in clinical care.
  • Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Titles include research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. Doctorate or other terminal degree. Not eligible for tenure; appointed for terms of one to five years; principal focus is research.
