Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified K-12 Band Instructor to join the team at Tawas Area High School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and engage students in a comprehensive band program. This full-time position offers the opportunity to cultivate musical talent, foster teamwork, and promote a love for music within our diverse student body.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a dynamic band curriculum that meets state and national standards.
  • Teach instrumental music to students in grades K-12, focusing on skill development, music theory, and performance techniques.
  • Organize and conduct rehearsals, ensuring that students are prepared for performances and competitions.
  • Plan and execute band concerts, festivals, and other public performances throughout the school year.
  • Collaborate with other music educators and staff to create a cohesive music program.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their musical abilities.
  • Maintain instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Engage with parents and the community to promote the band program and encourage student participation.
  • Stay current with music education trends and best practices through professional development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification for K-12 music education.
  • Proficiency in one or more band instruments, with strong conducting skills.
  • Experience in teaching band at the K-12 level is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A passion for music and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and staff members.
