1st Grade Instructional Aide / Building Aide

Bailey Lake Elementary

• Works with students to help them achieve the reading skill level of the class as a whole.
• Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
• Assists in producing and organizing the learning environment, equipment, and materials.
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Assists with supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
• Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
• Provides individual or small‑group student support.
• Supervises students during recess.
• Supervises students at lunch time and maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts.
• Directs movement of groups to and from the cafeteria in a safe and organized manner.
• Assists students in lunch room clean‑up.
• Supervises rest rooms and hallways.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Some reading, writing, and language college classes preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to staff and students.
• Willingness to learn developmentally appropriate educational practices.
• Ability to walk long distances.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to take written and oral instructions.

• Instructional Aide – $17.00 per hour (2.5 hours/day) – Step 1 of the pay scale.
• Lunch / Recess – $18.00 per hour (1 hour/day).
• Monday – Friday.
