1st Grade Instructional Aide / Building Aide

Responsibilities- Works with students to help them achieve the reading skill level of the class as a whole.
- Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
- Assists in producing and organizing the learning environment, equipment, and materials.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
- Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Provides individual or small‑group student support.
- Supervises students during recess.
- Supervises students at lunch time and maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts.
- Directs movement of groups to and from the cafeteria in a safe and organized manner.
- Assists students in lunch room clean‑up.
- Supervises rest rooms and hallways.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Some reading, writing, and language college classes preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to staff and students.
- Willingness to learn developmentally appropriate educational practices.
- Ability to walk long distances.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to take written and oral instructions.

Salary/Schedule- Instructional Aide – $17.00 per hour (2.5 hours/day) – Step 1 of the pay scale.
- Lunch / Recess – $18.00 per hour (1 hour/day).
- Monday – Friday.
