Elementary School Teacher

Caniff Liberty Academy is looking for an excellent elementary school teacher. The job title is elementary school teacher, and the supervisor is the school building principal. The job summary involves promoting and nurturing the education of students by planning and tailoring courses of study, monitoring and correcting academic efforts, providing a safe environment conducive to learning, and keeping parents informed.

Essential duties include educating students by planning and developing courses of study, tailoring course of study by developing modifications for several levels of academic ability, developing and presenting lesson plans, monitoring, assisting, correcting, and grading student results, maintaining order in the classroom, maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy educational environment, intercepting deterioration in achievement, keeping parents informed, providing student support services, updating job knowledge, enhancing school's reputation, and performing related duties as required.

Skills/qualifications include classroom management, verbal communication, resolving conflict, presentation skills, self-motivated, motivating others, listening, collaborative teaching, dealing with uncertainty, objectivity, and confidentiality.

Minimum qualifications include possessing a bachelor's degree and a current and valid Michigan teaching certificate required by the Michigan Department of Education.

Working conditions and physical requirements include exhibiting manual dexterity, physical agility, and other necessary skills to perform the essential functions of the job.

Job types include full-time and contract. Salary range is $45,000-$60,000.00 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, short term disability, 401k matching up to 3%, and tuition assistance program. Schedule is Monday to Friday. Supplemental pay types include bonus pay. Ability to commute or relocate to Detroit, MI 48211 is preferred.
