Escuela Avancemos Academy is a K–8 Public School Academy located in the heart of Southwest Detroit, Michigan, serving a vibrant and diverse community of learners. • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
• Valid content area endorsement in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, or English Language Arts.
• Experience working with English Language Learners
• Demonstrated commitment to young people’s learning success and achievement
• Demonstrated proficiency in a teaching capacity
• Evidence of successful experience in student and parent relations
• Submit to a criminal background check and be found without a record

• Curriculum Delivery:
  Adapt and teach a pre-approved, structured introductory STEM framework, such as Code.org, Project Lead The Way (PLTW Gateway), or Google CS First.
• Interdisciplinary Integration:
  Connect coding and robotics concepts back to the teacher’s primary area of endorsement:
  • Math:
    Apply coordinate planes, variables, geometry, and conditional logic to robot movements.
  • Science:
    Connect mechanical engineering, electrical circuits, data analysis, and the scientific method to robotics prototyping.
  • ELA:
    Use block-based coding (e.g., Scratch) to animate plot structures, build digital storytelling scripts, and document technical design processes.
  • Social Studies:
    Examine the societal, ethical, historical, and economic impacts of automation, artificial intelligence, and global digital access.
• As a member of the Escuela Avancemos Academy team, the Elective Teacher will contribute to a positive school culture that values academic excellence, leadership, character development, and student engagement while supporting the mission and vision of the Academy.
