Project Coordinator – Department of Oncology & Teacher Education Division

Wayne State University is looking for an experienced Project Coordinator for its Detroit campus. The role will coordinate activities across two program areas: 80% Cancer Research Training & Education (CRTEC) and 20% Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) grant support.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day operations for CRTEC and OSEP supported training and education programs, including timelines, deliverables, reporting, and deadlines.
  • Manage participant and student logistics: recruitment communications, onboarding, orientation, paperwork, stipend coordination, conference registration, travel, and ongoing support.
  • Maintain project documentation, shared files, databases, and tracking systems to support implementation, evaluation, annual progress tracking, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Support faculty and postdoctoral development and funding‑related activities: track and distribute funding opportunities, maintain grant‑writing resources, coordinate internal proposal reviews, and support internal pilot funding processes.
  • Schedule and organize meetings, educational sessions, doctoral seminars, advisory board meetings, and other program activities; prepare materials and support follow‑up.
  • Coordinate training and event logistics: space, speakers, materials, attendance tracking, and continuity of coverage across programs in collaboration with CRTEC staff and partners.
  • Provide general administrative and program support (copying, scanning).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, leadership/administration, organizational psychology, or a related area.
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred in the same fields.
  • Intermediate (3–4 years) job‑related experience.
  • Experience with Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) leadership preparation projects and grants.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating events, including travel.
  • Experience with grant writing.
  • Experience working with college students and people with disabilities and/or their families.
  • Strong project coordination, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to track deliverables and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and shared drives.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in education, leadership/administration, organizational psychology, or a related area; experience with OSEP leadership preparation projects and grants; ability to manage multiple projects; event coordination experience; grant writing experience; experience with college students and people with disabilities.
