Academic Dean
. Valid Michigan teaching certification and a minimum of 5+ years of teaching experience if required.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Dean to join our team. The Academic Dean will serve as a key part of the instructional leadership team in advancing the school’s mission. This position is responsible for providing curriculum, instruction, and assessment support and leadership for the academic educational program, ensuring the highest standards of educational excellence, fostering an inclusive learning environment, and promoting faculty development and collaboration.

The Academic Dean will collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and administration to enhance academic offerings and improve student success.

Responsibility:
Essential Duties:
  • Support the strategic direction for academic programs and initiatives that align with the school’s mission and goals.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum standards and educational policies in alignment with state and national guidelines.
  • Foster innovative teaching, learning, and assessment practices through the integration of technology and interdisciplinary approaches.
  • Train, coach, and mentor teaching staff to foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Organize and facilitate professional development workshops, coaching sessions, and peer observation programs.
  • Conduct regular learning walks and coaching feedback to an assigned caseload of teachers.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of faculty and provide constructive feedback.
  • Monitor and analyze student performance data to inform instructional practices and improve academic outcomes.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement strategies for differentiated instruction and meeting diverse student needs.
  • Support and coordinate interventions for at-risk students to ensure their academic success.
  • Collaborate with school leadership on budgeting and resource allocation for academic programs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of school policies and procedures related to academic affairs.
  • Participate in the school's strategic planning process that is focused on academic initiatives and improvements.
  • Effectively communicate with students, staff, and parents.
  • Work independently and with others to fulfill school goals and objectives.
Cognitive Demands:
  • Recall and abide by school policy and support school culture and goals
  • Be able to think logically and abstractly to solve problems
  • Provide outstanding written and oral communication
Physical Demands:
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Stand and walk frequently
  • Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
  • Withstand a moderate noise level
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. An Ed.D. or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • State of Michigan School Administration Certification and/or eligibility to obtain proper certification upon hire.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in K-12 education, with a focus on curriculum development and instructional leadership.
  • Previous experience in an administrative role is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of fostering positive school culture and driving student achievement.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships.
