African Centered K-8 School Teacher

The ability to plan, create and deliver and/or follow lesson plans. Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and test. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development. Provide a structured learning atmosphere. Maintaining positive environment in the classroom. Monitor student attendance and behavior. Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.

B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution. Must have a Michigan Teaching Certification in corresponding subject area. Thorough knowledge of Michigan Common Core Curriculum. Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software. Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Experience working in a culturally diverse setting. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Flexible open minded, self-driven team member.

Some background in African Centered Education. Some experience in methodology in African Principles.
