In accordance with the Agreement between Detroit Federation of Teachers (DFT) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.
Position Summary:
The Adapted Physical Education Teacher provides individualized physical education instruction or services to students in the Division of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) for students with an IEP. Adapted physical education teachers evaluate and assess motor competency, physical fitness, play, recreation, leisure, and sports skills. The Adapted Physical Education teacher supports the development and implementation of IEPs based upon assessment findings.
* DPSCD will offer a $15,000 retention/recruitment certification bonus to existing and new educators in these areas for the school year. Teachers who teach in a designated assignment and hold the active endorsement for that assignment will be eligible.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools or an equivalent agency
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with endorsement in Physical Education for Students with Disabilities (SP) required
