University Counselor I / Learning Support Engagement & Training Coordinator at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
Position Summary
The Learning Support Engagement and Training Coordinator is responsible for leading the marketing, communications, outreach, engagement, and training efforts for the Academic Success Center. This position develops and implements strategic initiatives that increase student awareness, participation, and utilization of academic support services, including tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), study skills coaching, workshops, and other student success programs. The coordinator also oversees the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of comprehensive training programs for peer tutors, Supplemental Instruction leaders, and other student staff to ensure high-quality, student-centered academic support services.
Working collaboratively with campus partners, the coordinator builds relationships with faculty, staff, and student organizations to promote a culture of academic success and holistic student engagement. The position is responsible for coordinating CRLA-aligned tutor training, facilitating professional development opportunities, assessing training effectiveness, and supporting compliance with recognized best practices in learning assistance. Through highly recognized skills in CRLA-certified training, internationally accredited Supplemental Instruction, and evidence-based learning support practices, the coordinator enhances the quality, effectiveness, and visibility of Academic Success Center programs while fostering the development of student employees as academic leaders.
Essential Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication plans that increase awareness and utilization of Academic Success Center services.
+ Create and manage digital and print marketing materials, including social media campaigns, newsletters, website content, email communications, and promotional resources.
+ Coordinate outreach and engagement events, classroom presentations, orientations, workshops, and campus-wide initiatives.
+ Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with academic departments/colleges, student success partners, advising, and other campus learning support programs.
+ Serve as the primary liaison for cross-campus marketing and engagement initiatives related to student academic success.
+ Promote tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, study skills coaching, and other student support services through innovative and inclusive engagement strategies.
+ Collaborate with Academic Success Center leadership to identify opportunities for expanding student participation and removing barriers to access.
+ Support the implementation and ongoing promotion of CRLA-certified tutor training standards and communicate the value of peer learning programs to campus stakeholders.
+ Assist with the recruitment, recognition, and engagement of peer leaders
+ Collect and analyze marketing and participation data to evaluate outreach effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements.
+ Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all Academic Success Center communications.
+ Represent the Academic Success Center on institutional committees, campus events, and collaborative initiatives.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in Communication, Marketing, Student Affairs, Education, or a related field.
+ Experience working in higher education, academic support services, student success, or learning assistance programs.
+ Knowledge of tutoring programs, Supplemental Instruction, and learning support best practices.
+
Experience with or knowledge of CRLA International Tutor Training Program and Peer Educator Certification requirements.
+ Demonstrated experience developing marketing, communication, and student engagement initiatives.
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills with diverse campus stakeholders.
+ Experience managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common communication, design, and social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience supervising or supporting peer educators, tutors, or Supplemental Instruction leaders.
+ Knowledge of student engagement assessment and data analysis.
