Birch Agency is seeking compassionate and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teachers to support preschool-aged children during the school year
. This full-time opportunity is ideal for educators who are passionate about early intervention, school readiness, and helping young children with developmental delays and disabilities build the foundational skills they need to succeed.
- Provide specialized instruction to preschool-aged children receiving Early Childhood Special Education services.
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Michigan Early Childhood Standards, district curriculum, and individual student needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Differentiate instruction to support cognitive, communication, social-emotional, adaptive, behavioral, and motor skill development.
- Create engaging, inclusive, and play-based learning experiences that promote school readiness.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to help identify strengths, needs, and appropriate educational supports.
- Participate as an active member of IEP teams, develop measurable goals, monitor progress, and support transitions to kindergarten services.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate data regarding student achievement and developmental progress.
- Maintain attendance records, progress reports, service logs, and all required special education documentation.
- Collaborate closely with families, administrators, related service providers, support staff, and community partners.
- Communicate student progress regularly and encourage meaningful family involvement in the educational process.
- Implement positive behavior supports and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Foster independence, communication skills, social interaction, self-regulation, and functional developmental skills.
- Maintain a safe, structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, professional development activities, and required trainings.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based early childhood and special education practices.
- Perform additional duties related to the assignment as directed by school administration.
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (Ages 3-5)
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or Michigan Temporary Teaching Authorization (T2EA).
- Endorsement in Special Education and Early Childhood (ZS) required.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children with developmental delays and disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood development, special education laws, IEP development, and compliance requirements.
- Strong classroom management, collaboration, and family engagement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Commitment to providing individualized, developmentally appropriate instruction and support.
