Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant Professor of Economics

Essential functions (job duties):

The Department of Economics at Wayne State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning on or about August 18, 2027. This is a full-time (9-month), benefits-eligible faculty position.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching in macroeconomics and econometrics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D.programs. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in both research and teaching and should contribute tothe academic and professional activities of the department. The teaching load is 2:2 (fall: winter semesters).

WSU is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a RU/VH (Research University, Very High research activity) institution and serves more than 24,000 students across 370 academic programs, making it apremier, public, urban research university located in the heart of Detroit.

Qualifications:

We seek candidates specializing in macroeconomics with a strong background in applied macroeconometrics.

Candidates should have an active research agenda in macroeconomicsand demonstrate strong potential for high-quality research and publication.

Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in Economics no later than August 17, 2027.
