Position:Faculty Member, Moral Theology

Faculty Member, Moral Theology POSITION SUMMARYSacred Heart Major Seminary seeks a Faculty Member, Moral Theology in Detroit, MI to teach five courses a year and be available for thesis direction. Participate in faculty meetings and all meetings of faculty committees to which the faculty member is assigned by the rector. Participate in the life of the seminary as outlined in the contract and Faculty Handbook. Serve as an academic advisor for students.
Stay current in the relevant field and participate in professional activities relevant to the work. Engage in research and publish at least one peer reviewed theological article or book every three years. Make the Profession of Faith, take the Oath of Fidelity, and conform to the teachings of the Code of Cannon Law and USCCB Program for Priestly Formation. Advance the mission of the seminary.
Assist in the recruitment and retention of students. Cooperate in Educational Outcomes Assessment programs. Keep regular office hours.
Qualified candidates must have a Doctor of Theology degree, or a foreign equivalent and two (2) years of experience teaching the following:
Roman Catholic Code of Cannon Law and the Program for Priestly formation; expertise in Moral theology: bioethics, sexual ethics, educational ethics, social doctrine of the Church, and fundamental moral theology; extensive list of publications in different languages; classroom management; effective teaching methodologies; online and in person teaching; mentorship and guidance including academic advising, career counseling; research and scholarship including writing articles and drafting course material;
presenting lectures; engaging in discussions, and participating in academic conferences; curriculum development; balancing teaching, research, and administrative duties; and a firm foundation in the teaching of the Catholic Church and present Catholic doctrine according to the Church’s authentic Magisterium.
