Arcadis is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) System Design Engineer to join our Resilience Water team in Detroit, MI. This position leads projects with I&C, automation system design, and SCADA integration, and provides I&C and SCADA design and implementation services for environmental remediation, industrial & municipal water and wastewater treatment, conveyance systems, and facilities.

This role provides engineering and design services to produce design & construction documents for projects. Coordinate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers; prepare technical memorandums; develop design criteria, SCADA system architecture, P&IDs, SCADA network diagrams, process control narratives, control schematics, panel layouts, and interconnection diagrams.

• Support projects and clients in the planning, design and construction of water/wastewater facilities and other industrial facilities, serving as Arcadis’ main point of contact with our clients for their I&C needs.
• Project Manager leading all facets of project, including budgeting, planning, cost estimating, design and execution of SCADA and instrumentation & control systems.
• Support electrical engineering and develop electrical design to support the I&C systems design. Conduct factory testing, site acceptance testing, field checkout, and startup of I&C and SCADA system startups. Utilize technical experience in the execution of I&C and SCADA projects from inception to turnover.
• Program process control logic in PLCs and configure graphical HMI for SCADA; configure historical data collection, archiving and reporting.
• Produce written specifications for implementing I&C and SCADA projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or related field
• 7+ years of I&C, Automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in water/wastewater market
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 12 months

• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit; ability to self-direct and manage multiple assignments to meet deliverables
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Advanced knowledge in instrumentation and controls for process and electromechanical equipment; SCADA networks; fiber optic networks for SCADA; radio and cellular telemetry; IT and industrial networks
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record; willingness to travel (25%)

• 10+ years of experience in developing bid and construction documents
• PLC/HMI programming, configuration & startup experience

Nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO per year. Salary range: $80,461 - $132,761. Actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
