Gas Transmission Pipeline Integrity Engineer

Hybrid | Detroit, MI | $75.46/hour | Long‑Term Contract (Extension or Direct Hire Possible)

We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Gas Transmission Pipeline Integrity Engineer to support the safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of gas transmission pipeline systems. This hybrid role is based in Detroit, Michigan, with long‑term contract potential and the opportunity for extension or direct hire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Transmission Integrity Management Programs (TIMP) in compliance with 49 CFR 192 Subpart O.
  • Perform risk modeling, threat identification, and integrity assessments for gas transmission pipeline assets.
  • Serve as project engineer and project manager for in‑line inspection (ILI) initiatives, including run planning, data analysis, dig selection, and validation.
  • Analyze inspection data such as smart pigging, ultrasonic testing, and corrosion monitoring to identify anomalies and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Review and approve pipeline engineering designs, work orders, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, integrity, and regulatory teams on pipeline projects and infrastructure investments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards including ASME B31.8 and API 1160.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory data requests, and performance reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies to maintain pipeline integrity and safety.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Industrial, or Petroleum Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in pipeline integrity management, regulatory compliance, or utility engineering.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline inspection techniques and integrity assessment methods.
  • Strong understanding of federal pipeline regulations and industry standards (ASME, API).
  • Experience using data analysis and GIS tools such as Arc Map and MS Access.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.

    40 hours per week (Monday–Friday)
  • Contract Length:
    Long‑term (2+ years total hours allocated)
  • Hourly Rate: $75.46/hour
