Location: Cleveland, OH / Lima, OH / Detroit, MI

Schedule: Hybrid (WFH Monday & Friday)

Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000/year + Annual Bonus

Our client is seeking a Tank Project Manager I with experience managing pipeline and/or terminal projects within the Oil & Gas industry. This role will support capital and maintenance projects focused on above ground storage tank inspection, repair, and facility improvements.

Role Summary

The Tank Project Manager is responsible for delivering project management services for storage tank, station, and terminal facility projects. The primary focus of this position is execution of inspection-driven tank repair and maintenance projects in accordance with applicable industry standards.

Project Initiation & Planning
  • Develop project scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, execution plans, and resource requirements during project initiation and planning phases.
  • Coordinate cross-functional input to define project objectives and technical requirements.
Project Execution
  • Manage full project lifecycle activities including engineering coordination, procurement, contractor management, construction oversight, startup, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Maintain accurate reporting related to project status, cost tracking, and forecast updates.
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within approved budgets.
Project Controls & Approvals
  • Evaluate and obtain approval for scope, budget, and schedule changes.
  • Maintain required documentation supporting project modifications and approvals.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Lead or facilitate project meetings and distribute meeting summaries as required.
  • Coordinate facility downtime, startup activities, and commissioning with Operations, Control Center personnel, and supporting departments.
  • Manage contractors, vendors, and inspection personnel across multiple concurrent projects.
Project Closeout
  • Oversee development and completion of construction and operational punch lists.
  • Ensure delivery of final documentation including as-built drawings, operating manuals, preventive maintenance documentation, equipment tagging, device settings, and project completion records.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements / Preferred Certifications
  • Minimum 4 years of project management experience within the petroleum, energy, or related industrial sector preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as project needs require.
  • API 653 certification or relevant tank inspection experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license (or intent to obtain).
  • Project Management certification (PMI or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of engineering, construction, and operational practices related to pipeline, terminal, or industrial facility infrastructure.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and contractor management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Regular exposure to outdoor environmental conditions.
  • Work may include elevated surfaces, moving mechanical equipment, rail operations areas, chemical or petroleum environments, airborne particulates, vibration, uneven terrain, and high noise levels.
  • Requires use of standard office equipment and computer systems.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and fire-resistant clothing (FRC) required in designated areas.
  • Position involves standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and effective communication with team members.
  • Ability to safely work in proximity to industrial operations and open water environments.
  • Position subject to applicable drug and alcohol testing requirements.
