Mechanical Engineer

AJM Packaging Corporation, one of America’s leading manufacturers of paper products, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Detroit, MI. This position will convert existing machines into Computer-aided design (CAD), improve old designs, and introduce automation to existing lines.

• Create detailed mechanical designs utilizing Autodesk Inventor for new and existing paper converting machinery, ensuring they meet specifications and standards.
• Work independently to gather data and input on the development of original designs or adaptations of existing designs after having been given general instructions regarding purpose and parameters.
• Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports.
• Work closely with other engineers, draftsmen, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product development.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policy.
• Apply Geometric, Dimensions, & Tolerancing (GDT) principles to new and existing mechanical blueprints.
• Stay updated with the latest engineering trends, tools, and technologies to continually improve design process.

• Proficient experience with Computer Aided Drafting;
  Preferably Autodesk Inventor.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience for automated equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in machine design working with pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation.
• Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and create technical documents, engineering drawings, engineering documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
