Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Lead Drainage Engineer to join our Michigan transportation practice. Under the direction of our Senior Hydraulic Design Manager, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that will challenge you and provide growth in your career. We have a flexible work environment allowing you to work with a team on local, national, and international projects from the office and/or home.
Roleaccountabilities:
- Engineering design for numerous roadway drainage and design‑build projects including collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements in Michigan and Ohio.
- Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design including bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system design, post‑construction water quality structures design, and erosion and sedimentation control.
- Prepare construction plans and project displays.
- Prepare cost estimates, reports and technical memos.
- Utilize various design software including Micro Station, Open Roads, AutoCAD Civil3D, Microsoft Excel, GIS, HEC‑RAS, HY8, Flow Master, ICPR, Storm
CAD, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC‑RAS2D to assist with the design and preparation of construction plans. - Coordinate with project managers, ecologist, and roadway engineers.
- Direct junior engineer’s design activities.
Experience:
Required Qualifications
- 7 or more years of drainage design and project management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Professional Engineer.
- Experience working on MDOT projects a plus.
- Basic understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations.
- Knowledge of stormwater design including open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
- Knowledge of stormwater treatment using appropriate BMPs suitable for the linear nature of transportation projects.
- Use of various software platforms including Bentley’s Storm
CAD, Culvert Master, Flow Master, ICPR, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, HY8, ICPR, SWMM, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC‑RAS2D. - Possess good communication (written and verbal), teamwork skills and the flexibility to complete a wide range of tasks including field work.
- Exhibit the initiative and ability to tackle new projects and other challenges regularly.
- NCEES record a plus.
Arcadis offers benefits for full‑time and part‑time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $98,000 - $124,000.
Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
